DANCE MASTERS OF AMERICA, INC. is an International Organization of dance educators who have been certified by test to teach. We offer membership in more than thirty chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Our organization is always on the “cutting edge” of the newest and best teaching techniques and has had an enormous impact upon both the art and education of dance for more than a century. 

The Dance Masters of America has been certifying and setting the standards in dance education since 1884. Since its inception, the goals of the organization have been to improve the standards of dance benefits offered to its members and their students.

DMA provides syllabi that are being utilized by universities, colleges, and dance institutions throughout the world. A continual update of the syllabi makes this tool a living instrument of learning. 

DMA Teachers Training School Program, an outstanding educational program for dance teachers which provides a comprehensive curriculum, an outstanding faculty, a unique focus on technique and teaching skills, and the nurturing of camaraderie among fellow teachers.

DMA chapters provide regional workshops, seminars, forums and performance opportunities for its members and their students. 

DMA National and Affiliated Chapter Conventions, as well as Workshops, afford the membership the opportunity to unite for the exchange of ideas and information and to study the latest techniques and business advancement opportunities. 

DMA offers the most extensive variety of dance education effecting today’s dance professionals. Some disciplines included are ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, liturgical, ethnic, pre-school, children’s work, acrobatics and gymnastics. 

DMA also offers instruction in anatomy, injuries and prevention, nutrition, kinesiology, creative movement, music theory, choreography and the issues that affect the dance community. 

DMA offers over 100 opportunities to expand and perfect your technical and professional skills through affiliation with more than thirty chapters in the United States and Canada. 

DMA offers more monetary and training scholarships than any other member organization in the world. Scholarships are granted for master classes, training school, universities, and major professional schools of dance. In addition, monetary scholarships are granted to deserving artists, associations, and professional dance companies in recognition of their contributions to the dance community. 

DMA Newsletters and Magazines are published throughout the year allowing the DMA members to stay on the cutting edge of all changing trends in dance. DMA offers recognition for those members who have met the prescribed requirements of its continuing education standards. 

DMA offers major reductions in BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC licensing fees.

DMA honors members and other professionals for their outstanding contributions to both DMA and the arts. 

DMA membership is offered to any teacher, over the age of eighteen, who is actively engaged in the teaching of dance and has successfully passed a minimum of two Membership Certification Examinations. 

DMA membership is established through one of our Affiliated Chapters throughout the United States and Canada. 

DMA syllabi and other educational material are offered as study guides for DMA membership examination. DMA testing procedures and requirements have been established to insure the credibility and dance knowledge of its membership..
