Examination Requirements (cont.)

The By-Laws, Article IV Membership, specifically details how Membership Applications are to
be handled by both the Chapter and the National Organization.   cont...

1. All Applications have complete information and all required signatures. The Application for
Membership is a legal document. It is very important that all information required, especially
dates, Chapter approval of the member, the signatures of the Examiners, and test scores
    are included.
2. Section 3 of this Article is very clear with regard to National testing requirements.
    • If the applicant teaches ONLY ONE SUBJECT he or she is only required to examine in
      that subject.
    • If the applicant teaches MORE THAN ONE SUBJECT he or she is required to PASS A
      MINIMUM OF TWO EXAMINATIONS.
    • If the applicant teaches MORE THAN ONE SUBJECT and has PASSED THE MINIMUM
OF TWO EXAMINATIONS WHEN HE OR SHE JOINED DMA. THEY MAY, AT A LATER
DATE TAKE ADDITIONAL EXAMINATIONS TO BE CERTIFIED BY DMA IN THOSE
SUBJECTS. HOWEVER, THEY MUST TAKE A MINIMUM OF TWO TO BECOME A
      MEMBER.
    • Many of the Membership Applications coming into the National Office list FOUR OR FIVE
SUBJECTS that the member is currently teaching and THERE IS ONLY ONE
EXAMINATION ATTACHED THE TO WITH APPLICATION. THIS PRACTICE IS IN
VIOLATION OF THE DMA NATIONAL BY-LAWS.
    • If the applicant has successfully passed ONE OF THE EXAMINATIONS FROM ONE OF
THE APPROVED ORGANIZATIONS (Article IV, Section 3, Examinations), A COPY OF
THE EXAMINATION CERTIFICATE MUST BE SENT TO THE NATIONAL OFFICE WITH
      THE DMA MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION.
    • If the applicant has successfully passed THE DMA TEACHERS TRAINING SCHOOL
EXAMINATIONS he or she will not have to take the DMA Membership Examinations
PROVIDED THAT ALL OTHER REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN MET.
           A. That he or she has successfully passed a TTS Examination in ONE SUBJECT, if
that is the ONLY subject he or she teachers.
           B. That he or she has successfully passed a MINIMUM OF TWO TTS EXAMINATIONS
IF HE OR SHE TEACHES MORE THAN ONE SUBJECT.
